PETALING JAYA: Schools will be able to apply for extra days off during the Chinese New Year celebrations on Feb 7 and 8.
Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Mohd Dom said the ministry had received many applications from schools to take occasional leave (cuti peristiwa) and replacement leave (cuti berganti) to enable parents to take their children to their hometowns.
“All state education directors have been directed to approve the additional days off for schools which have applied for them,” he said in a statement.
Alimuddin said schools in states that have their weekends on Friday and Saturday could apply for occasional leave on Feb 6 and replacement leave on Feb 10 and Feb 11. These days must be replaced on Jan 19 and 26 respectively, he added.
