Foul play in boy's fatal fall?

The family of a 15-year-old student who died due to serious head injuries sustained after falling of his school building in Puchong suspects foul play behind the incident.

K Yoshavan, a form three student, succumbed to his injuries without regaining consciousness at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital this morning.

At a press conference yesterday, his uncle A Presnath demanded for answers.

“Someone must have seen something. The spot he was found was between two buildings,” said the distraught 35-year-old legal advisor.

Presnath claimed that a teacher had told him that Yoshavan fell around 10.30am on Tuesday when trying to jump from one building to another.

“I find this hard to believe. I was getting different versions from different teachers,” he said, adding that he has lodged a police report on the incident.

When Malaysiakini went to the school later that afternoon, a security guard said the headmaster had left and refused to allow this reporter in.

'Ambulance came one hour later'

Meanwhile, Presnath (left) also claimed that after his nephew fell, the school authorities asked a doctor from a nearby clinic to come to the school and examine Yoshavan.

“An ambulance was called and it arrived about one hour later. Yoshavan was first taken to the Serdang Hospital and then transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” he said.

On why the family suspected foul play, Presnath said his nephew had often complained about being bullied in school and the former had mentioned this in his police report.

Tamil daily Makkal Osai today reported that the deceased’s father Kesavan had filed a police report in May alleging that his son was bullied and even assaulted . He had also raised the matter with the headmaster.

“On Monday Yoshavan told his father that he did not want to study in this school anymore and wanted to be transferred to another school,” said Presnath.

“I don’t rule out the possibility that Yoshavan could have been pushed off the building,” he added.

In a related development, Subang district police chief ACP Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar said the case has been classified as sudden death and investigations are underway.

“We have been to the scene of the incident and interviewed several people, including his schoolmates,” he said when contacted.
