Will the Indians make another fundamental mistake?

A Letter by : VJ via M'Kini

I refer to the Malaysiakini report Seven issues affecting the Indians.

The MIC leader was previously denying that there were any issues within the Indian Malaysian community. So where does this sudden awakening came from ?

He was an ignorant of the current wave among the Indians. What took him thus far to admit? Is the MIC is so sloppy that it needs 29 years to realise an issue which within the community it's leading?

Or is it simply a political gimmick? Just in order to magnetise the MIC to pull in the Indian voters? If that's the case, then for sure after the elections these seven issues will revert to a KIV (Keep In View) status without any follow up action until they resurface for next election five years down the road .

Evidently, this has what has been happening for past 29 years.

It took the MIC years to realise there are approximately 40,000 Indians without birth certificates in Selangor and now, out of the blue, MIC youth is working aggressively to contain this particular issue .

Are the authorities telling the world that even if Hindraf had never materialised, these chronic issues would have got the attention they needed? Please ...

It is also ridiculous that the deputy prime minister issued a warning to Indian community not to go against the ruling BN in coming election. Doesn't he know that he is a leader of a democratic country?

He stressed that the community should work within the system and yes indeed - they have been doing that for the past 50 years. So what kind of difference is he trying to point out?

This is the fundamental mistake of the Indian community - giving a full mandate to one party for five decades. As you can see, the leaders whom we have voted in to safeguard our rights are now threatening us.

Are Malaysians going to make another fundamental mistake in the coming elections?
