Nation built on lies

A Letter By : Concerned Papa via M'Kini

I read with interest on an article entitled ‘Lying’ by a website called Center for effective parenting. One paragraph went as below:

‘Older children lie because they hear their parents lie. Many children hear their parents and other important adults lying (eg, lying about their plans in order to avoid something). Children learn from their parents and other adults in their lives, and thus will be more inclined to lie if they hear their parents and other adults telling lies.’

This reminded me of the agony of hearing repeated lies from the leaders of our nation whom I treated (at one time) like the fathers of our nation. This betrayal of my faith and trust by the cakap tak serupa bikin attidtude of our leaders has really caused me to lose my respect for them

I heard many comments; yet I heard and saw even more contradictions. Some of the examples are as below.

Comment: I am the No. 1 public servant.

Contradiction: If you were public servant No.1 public servant, why were you not there even when they sent you roses?

Comment: Work with me, not for me.

Contradiction: If we were working with you, why is it that we still have first, second and 1st and maybe even third class citizens?

Comment: Speak to me, I have got big ears

Contradiction: Big ears indeed. If your ears were so big, the people's ranting would have sounded like thunder.

Comment: The (BN) government can easily solve problems of the multiracial population of the country.

Contradiction: Why are there still race-based policies versus one single policy for Bangsa Malaysia?

Comment: Parliament will not be dissolved tomorrow

Contradiction: Parliament was dissolved the next day.

Comment: BN has achieved its targets

Contradiction: How do you explain the skyrocketing crime rate, the economic suffering of the layperson etc?

This is just the tip of the iceberg of lies that I hear daily, so much so that I have stopped subscribing tothe newspapers and in fact, feel nauseated by the one-sided comments perpetuated by almost all newspapers out there. If I were to lie to my two-year-old in this manner, she would be a perfect liar by the time she is 10.

Enough said. I am tired of the lies and do not plan to be influenced by a nation full of liars just because the ‘fathers’ of the nation are lying incessantly. I will vote for a change. I urge you to do the same for our sake and for the sake of our children. Last but not least, also for the sake of honesty and integrity.
