KUALA LUMPUR: Work on the elevated Sungai Buaya interchange on the North-South Expressway is expected to commence early next year.

In a statement, Works Minister Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said it was in the final stages of discussion with the Economic Planning Unit and the Finance Ministry.

The statement also said the matter was expected to be discussed by the cabinet soon.

"Once it is approved, construction is expected to commence early next year," the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Juru rest area for southbound traffic will be temporarily closed on March 10.

PLUS Expressways Berhad said the Juru rest area was being closed for spring cleaning.
